Sunset
SUNSET

O, brightly shining sun that beckons me
Sending glittering orange light across the ocean
As the waves crash along the shore
The golden sand still hot from your heat
Spying a pair of footprints on soaked sand
Imagining a mother walking with her daughter
The talks they share with hands connected
Little eyes mesmerized as she looks up at her mom
While each word sticks in her memory
Then a series of waves come along
And carries the footprints off to see
But you remember everything you saw
During the time you lit up the ground
Children splashing in the water
Lovers snuggled on a towel...
Caught in a loving stare
Parents acting like kids as they play with theirs
Your rays placing a tan on people's skin
Leaving a reminder of a summer passed
Slowly you set to the horizon
Where darkness and moonlight replaces you
'Til another day
